Cambodian Bloggers Award 2007

The way I express my writings on the blog here, I don't think I should be at this award event. My close friends also advised me not to attend this event. However, I have obtained the registration form and filled everything out. Please click on the application to read my filled out form.

Vanak,
Phnom Penh.

(Added 25/11/2007) -- I thank you all for my readers' concern. I will not attend this event.

Back in August 30 of this year there was a Cambodia Blogger Summit -- I wanted to go, but didn't. My friends also told me not to go. I told them I just wanted to go there to sit and listen what the summit was about. The organisers wouldn't know who I am. As close friends, they even scolded me in reply "Why do you need to attend it for ? Unless you wanted to become the alligator food, then go"

I know the time is not right yet for me to attend these kind of social function.

One day my hope our leaders, lawmakers to fully embrace freedom of writing and expressing one's own opinion without fear of being persecuted. Change we must for the better and I shall live to see this day.

By the way, a new movie opened up in the U.S. this week, called Holly, it's about child prostitution in Cambodia.

here's the link, and a synopsis below... http://movies.aol.com/movie/holly/30464/synopsis

Synopsis:Holly
A two-bit criminal gets a shot at redemption while traveling through Southeast Asia in this 2006 drama from director Guy Moshe. Ron Livingston stars Patrick, a low-level con man who scores a gig transporting some stolen goods from Cambodia. When Patrick is sidelined at a brothel, he finds himself drawn to helping the title character, a 12-year-old Vietnamese prostitute played by Thuy Nguyen. Vanak,
kom nah! Please do not join any conference or forum, you should also be aware of the people around you. Even to fill out form or register to read stories or article online, they can get your ip adress, and easy to track down. Kom nah...!

Everyone need you here. The Vietnamese government are very ferocious! They send spy around, trust me, I've been living with their system for very long time. They send their gang around abroad too.

Just keep yourself safe. We need your post and voice! It means a lot. please...

Take care of yourself.

I was asked to join too but I didn't, it for that reason, my safety. Cambodian Bloggers is organized by students but I heard that "Cambodia Daily"(pro-government newspaper-which Hok Lundy, a Vietnamese involve) will join the event.

Forget about award.

Dear blogger,

First off, you write well. I enjoy your writing. Your subject matters whether, they are political or social, do not matter to reader such as myself; what matter are the human faces your writing gave to readers. Take for example the answer, which your offered KC in regarding to Khmer returnees or in your word "anikaguen". Reading that answer gave me insight into a a thought of a Khmer in Cambodia.

This said...and in regard to this conference or any such conference in the future, I advise you against such or any move to receive or accept any award within Cambodia or abroad without sufficient political backing.

Call me paranoid or whatever, but many people in the Cambodian government today are former Khmer Krahoms, and as such they are not to be trusted. These people cannot be trusted not because they are unkind, but because there is no demarcation or consequences to the way they wielded their power. They are dangerous, precisely because they are like children, without parents, who have always been getting away with bad behaviors.

Dearest friend, for now, keep blogging and stay low. When the time is right to show your face in public, you will know.....and as such a time arises, an "Anikaguen" like me will step up to cheer you on for being a good sport and for bringing a new meaning to the word free expression.

Carry on dear friend.

I never thought of that . I will hold on to your advise. I absolutely ask for nothing more. But only these kind of comments are very touch to my heart and makes me want to write in order to express my feeling even more.

From PP,
Vanak.
