Cambodian Vehicle License Plates

I just strolled along on the street here at Phnom Penh the other day, I noticed there were so many civilian vehicles with different license plates were driving and parking all over the markets and in front of restaurant. I'm not complaining on the cars that have Phnom Penh or Kg Cham or Kg Speu...plates.

The cars I'm talking about are CIVILIAN cars such as Lexus, Landcruiser, Mercedes, Camry...etc. Their license plates are related to government such as :

ខេមរះភូមិន្ធ Royal Cambodian Arm Forces(RCAF) , រដ្ធ STATE, រាជការ Government, នគរបាល Police, រដ្ធសភា Senate, រាជវាំង Royal Palace។

These people are corrupt they register their vehicles as such to avoid paying higher tax. I know a family who has his regular pickup truck registered as the រាជការ Government license plate .

Hey, if registering their cars as such is legal...then what's to put a stop to that?

it's more of a symbol of status by having their private cars licence plates as: nokorbal --police or Khemerak Phoumin--royal arm forces...etc. Don't ever get hit by those cars with such licence plates. Eventhoug they're at fault, the victim will be surely get kicked, beaten and penalized.

Right now, new traffic law require all motorcylist to have driver's license. How do you think? They they plan to fine our innocent people soon. By the way, Gov't have no ability to give driving license to all Cambodians on time. If Gov't implement new law to fine people, that is the good opportunity for traffic police to extort money from people inevitably. Please wait and see. I think it will be true.

Anon@7:54am,
In order to stop that, we must have strong rule of law: Civilian car cannot have government license plate. Drivers of government vehicles cannot use the vehicles for personal reasons. i.e: go to markets.

Anon@11:34am,
Agree with your saying.

Vuthasurf,
Thanks for dropping by and your comments. I am aware the new traffic law is in effect. The law requires drivers to have operating license. It's a good law. We must initiate it or otherwise people continue to drive without the license. Either your poor or rich, you must have the license inorder to drive. Like you said if the gov't unable to grant licenses to people on time, it must issue some temporary card stated so.
I am supporting this law.

Snake,
I am doing just fine. I was ill that's why I didn't have time to go to internet cafe. I had a fever/caugh/cold because of the weather dry and wet so sudden. Phnom Penh weather these day is unpredictable. Thanks for your concern.

RSK2000,
Just like the 2nd Anonymous@11:34 posted, here in Cambodia pple with these kind of plates they just want to show power. They owning the road. Don't anybody hit them.

Here we have plates:
Khemerak Phumin (Military)
Nokorbal (Police)
Sakphea(Senate Members)
Pritt Sakphea(Senate)
Reachea Vang(Royal Palace)
Rath (State)
Reachaka(Royal Government)

hmmm.... what else that miss ?
oh..... I heard there's license plate that says:
HS (Hun Sen) --- if this one is truly exist, don't never ever get hit by the vehicles with license plate with HS !!

Thank you all for your comments !!
